Hello. My name is Brandi. I am the Founder and one of the Directors of Adam’s March Inc.
I am also a member of Mom’s Stop the harm and their Ontario provincial advocacy group.
More importantly, I am Adam’s sister. I lost my brother Adam Robinson to an overdose on May 1, 2020. His body was found in an encampment fire in Toronto. Adam was trying to get help for his substance use and supports for homelessness and mental health at the beginning of the pandemic. Services were very limited and this left Adam feeling helpless and frustrated. Adam left our home on March 21, 2020, and his body was found 41 days later.
Adam’s March was created to honour my late brother and to assist people in similar situations be treated with love, dignity and respect.
Adam had a big heart and loved to help people and always had goals of giving back to the those in need, even if sometimes he was the one that was in need.
After going through Adam’s journals and ideas, I was able to come up with something to honour the work he always wanted to do. It is called Adam's March. This charity will support people across all our communities who are experiencing difficulties with substance use, homelessness and barriers to accessing services. There are not enough services in a timely manner to help people in need or crisis. Most of our communities are in crisis and our most vulnerable are being the hardest hit. Homelessness and opioid related injuries and deaths will unfortunately continue.
I am hoping that with Adam's March, people in need can feel love, dignity and respect like we all deserve and have the strength to keep fighting on their journey through life.
Warmest regards,
Brandi Horvat – Adam’s Sister
